It doesnt matter how much money. Forgery is forgery and it is a felony. Felony= jail time. Unless you get lucky and get probabtion. Get a good lawyer.

I believe it's a felony. A relative of mine sent a $1000 check to me a couple of years ago but sent it to another relative's address. Not only did the other relative forge my name and cash the check, they opened mail addressed to me. Even though the person that signed the check said it was okay, by law, it is NOT. I researched all of this and found that I could have pressed charges but I don't remember all of the details of what they could have been charged with. In my case, it definitely was a felony (or two or three).

Check the attorney general's website (Greg Abbott) and I believe there is a website where you can actually read the Texas Penal Code; do a search.

Good luck

They'll probably come no matter what as long as they have some evidence that shows you did it, even if it's a misdemeanor instead of a felony, especially if the forgery involves the theft of money.

OK, in a nutshell: If the police come to your house, it is bad. Doesn't matter what the crime was. If the police think its important to visit you about it, its bad.
