No, I was not personally but my brother who was voting next to me was. His machine repeated pages and they had to get their tech guy who explained he had all of his training this morning try to fix it...

No but along those lines I was affected (as everyone else was) by the rigid animosity of the poll workers. This one woman in particular was so mean and nasty that many people just walked out without voting at all! The stories got around and it was rumored that it was done on purpose to discourage people from voting and if it's true it most certainly worked!

No, I hope you will read what I have to say as the event I participated in is still pretty rare...but myself and a group of about 15 or 20 activists conducted a parallel election which is kind of like exit polling but with much higher participation (and hence more accurate--exit polls historically have a 1/2 to 2% accuracy) with a secret ballot conducted also. We had duplicate paper ballots, two big transparent ballot boxes locked with crisscrossed big chains and four padlocks per box, polls books with the person's precinct that they signed in order to assure they were a voter there, that they were voting the exact way they just voted on the voting machines, and assure no ballot stuffing by matching the number of voters to the number of ballots in each precinct (there were 4 precincts at the polling location we did. We even had stickers to parallel the one you officially get..theirs said I voted...ours said I voted twice...and lots of free refreshments.

We were under a big tent for the raining day. Our greeters that approached voters leaving the polls were allowed to stand closer than the 100 feet from the polls rule as we weren't campaigning and trying to influence the vote...only asking them to vote again by secret ballot in our parallel election after they had just voted.. This way we were able to snag people before they split in different directions.

Many voters participated and the big box was jammed so full of paper ballots, we couldn't get anymore in and had to start a new one. People thanked us for double checking the vote and several told us they trusted our way of conducting elections and our results far more than inside.

We had good voter participation..although we only have estimates at this point of voter turnout in our city, using the general trunout figures, we had around 40% or more participate. Exits polls generally question 2-25% of voters (without the duplicate voting). We then went and counted the elctions in each race of each precinct till 2 AM so it was a long day and my first parallel election. I had fun. I had no problems with my machines, but we heard of one polling location were there was vote hopping that at least 6 people reported. It took about 1 1/2 hour to replace the machines, I heard. Here in Ohio, we voting rights activists are familar with many of the tricks and we are watching them as best we can. We also had another group doing poll watching inside the polls. we had a woman filming interviews of those with problems today.
