The bleeding can be caused by various reasons, but it isn't a normal reaction.
The hymen is a membrane located inside a woman's vagina, and normally her first intercourse will break that membrane. This hymen though, can have different sizes, volumes, elasticity and can be thicker or thinner. If her hymen was very thick and/or very elastic, it might be the case that it didn't break first time she had intercourse, and after she does sex that membrane is irritated, causing a light spotting.
Another reason - probably the most obvious one - is that she is on her period, or was/will be in a moment very close to present.
Probably the worse prognosis that may cause the bleeding, is that she has an ovarian cyst. Depending on the type of the cyst, sometimes it can become hemorrhagic especially if it's touched or stressed. In this case, she should get a gynecologist appointment to do a test (it doesn't hurt!) and recommend some medication or birth control pills that will make the cyst retract. In time, if it's not looked into, the cyst can grow in size up to fantastic volumes (have seen women who were so ignorant that they let it grow to the size of a new born baby!), and it will require surgery that can even endanger her life. Therefore, she should do the checkup now, before it becomes a real problem.
Take this problem seriously, and ask her to see a gynecologist for a routine checkup!

I don't know why, but I really don't think that it is okay or normal. She should go see her Doctor.
