Highly doubtful.
They have a pretty good core of guys, and if the defense (and Hasek!) stays healthy, they should have a decent year.
Any team can win on any given day in the NHL, but there are quite a few teams with more talent in the league.
I'd love to see them hold up the cup again, but I doubt it will happen soon....:(

Not this year...if the start of the season is any indication Stanley's home will be in Buffalo, Atlanta or Anaheim...though I suspect the Flames may have something to say about that as they get out of their early slump.

the red wings will definitely bring stanley home........i assume 'stanley' is a lost child and they will do their corporate and societal duties by reuniting him with undoubtedly grief-stricken parents.
as for winning the stanley cup -- not only do the red wings have zero chance of winning it, THEY KNOW IT as do most fans....it is only the die-hard think-with-your-heart dummies that still believe.
if you want to win the cup in detroit, lose that lump hashit in net.
he's garb, we know it, he knows it, the wings know it...that's why they collectively collapse back on defence to bail out that looooooooozer

I am the biggest Wings fan and I would love to see it come back to Detroit but I just don't see them winning it this year. It seems like the team just isn't the same without Stevie and Shannie, it's like they have lost their drive to win or something. I would love to see them hold up that cup one more time but I just don't see it happening.

Not even a slight chance. It was total BS last year that they hung the playoff loss on Manny when it was just their weak schedule that made them look good during the regular season. The Red Wings haven't been very good for a few years now.

Unfortunately for those who "think" Stanley lives in their home town, ie Toronto, Detroit....he does not. Athough I do respect Hockeytown U.S.A and cannot even say " Leafs" without swearing somewhat, the true home of Mr. Stanley, the place where he lives and bleeds is of course Montreal....

I think there are better teams in the west. They are not as bad as there start was though, that is for sure.
