It all come down to religion. It's the holy land for all religions. Muslims have moved it Mecca, Christians have moved it to Rome, and the Jews have Israel. Jews were in Israel long before any other religion, Long Before. That is why after WW2 the allies put them there, and gave them the ability to defend their land. The Jews have been enslaved, slaughtered, persecuted, and treated harshly long before the holocaust. The halocaust was just the last straw. Jews were known as the meek, and were kicked around by EVERYONE. Now they are not taking it anymore. The Palestinians couldn't live with the Jews, because they consider them a lesser race. So they had a war, and got their as*es kicked, they even had the backing of the all powerful Egypt, HAHAHA. The war lasted 6 days. The Egyptians went home with their tail between their legs, and the Palestinians were banished to Gaza. Lebanon was reduced to rubble. Since then they have been having little conflicts back and forth. Clinton initiated the road map and Bush tried to carry it on. When the Fatah party was in power they were making some real progress for a change. The Jews with military and police force removed Jewish settlements from occupied lands and gave it back to the Palestinians. In my opinion a real show of wanting to continue with the peace process. Then the Hamas party came to power. OH O. The Hamas government refuse to recognize the state of Israel, and refused to reign in it's military(terrorist) arm. The entire international community viewed this a major setback and all aid to the Hamas government was halted, because they know that aid given will be used to fund terror activities against Israel. But Hamas is to stubborn/stupid to denounce terrorism and continue with the peace processes. Gaza has nothing, they rely competely on international aid. Israel giving them tax money is like giving a known vandal a brick outside your house. They should be glad they don't shut off the oil pipeline and have lifted the marine blockade. It has been almost 60 years, it's time for the Paestinians to get a grip on reality in the 21st century, recognise Israel and make peace.

Two thumbs down already? Everybody like to hate a Jew

Thats a rather ominous question. Should we have not fought the war in 1939, after all we were only expected to last 6 weeks before "Adler Tag" and sealion. And let us also not forget that it was the western world who "gave" Israel to the Jews, not the Palestinians. How would you react to someone coming into your country and splitting it down the middle and giving half of it away, would you concentrate on your halfs agriculture? Very tempted to ask you to read some social history before asking such questions. They are called Palestinians because they are from Palestine, or Isreal as we call it.

well the thing is that u obviously have not read enough information about the Palestinians situation from the beginning till now... I'm a Palestinian living in Palestine ... achieving what u r talking about is not as easy as just stating them ...
Then who told u that Palestinians r not working to improve other aspects of life , do u know we have massive amounts of universities graduates?? but too bad cant find enough jobs ,,, and that is because we r not even allowed to build our own corporations without the license and permission from Israel ..

I'm not saying we couldn't have done more , but I'm telling u its not easy to grow when everything is controlled by the Israeli side, even the stupid stuff...

so plz dont underestimate what we r going through as well the work we r trying each day to do .. and i hope u can watch non-Israeli news and know that in this certain moment there is a massacre going on in Gaza strip in Palestine , and u can clearly see that all important aspects of life are being hit and demolished..

well, they were in refugee camps most of that time. isreal was adamantly against a palestinian state for decades, so how could they have been working on their own country? (besides, hezbollah does what you say they should be doing and apparently does it very well.)

also, as in currently the situation - israel won't release the palestinians own tax dollars to them.

also, these other arab nations were not responsible for taking in palestinians. why should they? the palestinians already had a home. the brits stole it from them and gave it to the european zionists. but, as to be expected from the brits, they gave it to the zionists in such a way as to keep that part of the world unstable and therefore vulnerable to brit and american intervention.

the palestinians are the victims. there's no way around this and the world has done a terrible thing by allowing israel to exist.

Does anyone think that if the Israel had put the amount of energy and money they have spent since 1948 on improving agriculture, education, business, health etc in the region, instead of fighting a war they will never win, they would have had lasting peace by now, instead of being the principal political destabiliser in the world?

Palestinian arabs live in both Israel, the so called occupied territories and in neighbouring arab states. The israeli arabs numbering 1.5million, although a minority have among them successful people, with degrees and PhDs gained in Israeli universities and/or succesful businesses in a strong economy. Those who were refugees either forced or voluntarily before the planned invasion of the arab neighbors obviously got a much worse deal as second class citizens in other countries, Lebanon was the toughest, in Jordan they were offered citizenship and money, but in prcatice if tehir neighbours accepted them they will be effectively losing any negotiating rights to teh occupied territories as an arab homeland. Many naturally wanted to return to the land they farmed or town they lived in. The strength of Isaeli army, intellgience and borders controls have made this impossible. The palestinians in the occupied territory are the most embattled, seeing land taken by the militant settlers and personal liberties eroded since the intifida. Israel's policy with arab neighbors is that they only understand strength, or they hit us we hit them back 10x harder, only leads to resentment. It takes great strength to negotiate for freedom of travel on one hand while being humiliated, especially when your borders and access to markets are controlled by an unfriendly neighbour. What's more democracy is so new to these people that politically strong people end up milking teh system for their own financial gain.
So to summarise on the individual level many any focussing on building their careers if they are lucky to live in a stable area, but for those who can't due mostly to controls placed on them from both arab but more especially Israeli neighbours and above all their own politcians then people really see little hope of following peaceful means to achieve their ends.

The Palestinian leadership doesn't really want a country, they just want to fight Israel. Too bad for the Palestinian people.

If they had done that....it would only have made it all the more attractive to the jews! And they then wouldn't have had the power, energy or resources to fight back.

They had there own country! Maybe if they had not been treated so harshly they might not want a fight.

If you were forceably removed from your country would you just take it on the chin and move on?
