Are you really who you claim to be?
Prove it!

The point is, being asked to verify who you are is a safe-guard from some yokel walking in and claiming he/she is you and then voting the way they want to.

This isn't a question about civil rights, it is a smart way to prevent voter fraud.

You DO want an honest election, don't you???

Why would it be illegal? Don't you have to show ID to buy tobacco and alcohol, it was just a few cry babies trying to make a big deal out of nothing, I believe some people called it voter intimidation, morons, how else would the men and women working the polls know if you are the person you say you are, and further more to keep left or right wing side from trying to falsely add more votes to their party.

Some state require ID. It is actually a good practice what better way to insure that you are voting as you? I think all states should require some sort of picture ID to confirm identity especially with increase of identity theft.

no it is not illegal and no one should have a problem with showing a picture id to vote, its much too important of a right to treat lightly. too many of the 'dead' voted in new orleans this past election because the government was afraid they would offend ppl by requiring a pic id. its really not that difficult and its your responsibility. with rights come responsibility.

Not illegal at all -- in fact, it is a widely used practice to prevent voter fraud. They have to identify everyone who comes thru to vote and check them off, so they don't allow anyone to vote more than once.

Why is showing your DL to someone such a big deal anyway???

i don't think it is a big deal at all. i want to make sure that no one is voting for me, i had no problem showing my id.

if you are voting i assume you drive to the polling place. you should have the id on you...

it is not illegal.

there are supposed to be options available to those without ids - that is, they are allowed to sign an affadavit and then vote.
