Use lots of questions. If you want to keep peoples attention it is best to get them involved - this doesn't neccesarily mean they have to answer the questions out loud - but it does engage people - and gets them involved in the presentation.

e.g.

1)Today I'm going to talk about the benefits wi-fi networks can bring to our workplace.

or

2) Why Wi-Fi networks? What benefits could these bring to our business?

e.g.2.

1) This will give us benefits a, b, c.

Or

2) Could this give a benefit of a?
Would we want the benefit of b?

Notice the difference?

Summaries at the end are good too.

Rule Number 1: Do not say (read out) the same thing as what it already says on your visual material.
Your visual material should either graphically represent what you are saying, or only show the "headlines" of what you are saying.
Rule Number 2: Don't pack too much information into one slide.
Staying too long on one slide (sentence) makes people fall asleep. Have lots of slide changes.
Rule Number 3: Stay professional, forget dancing dolls and "humorous" clip art.
Rule Number 4: Often made mistake: As time goes on, slides and talk becomes longer and longer = anti-climax....
Rule Number 5: Don't leave it to last to make your point. Structure like this:
a) Background, why are we talking about this?
b) This is what I will tell you
c) This is how I substantiate what I'm telling you
d) This is what I just told you.

Good luck!

I'm giving a presentation to Senior Management today too :-)

I just try to find a friendly face and come back to that face every so often. Just practice, practice and practice. Wear something that is appropriate, yet comfortable. And be yourself and remember that most people empathize that it's tough to give a presentation.

Good Luck ;-)

Face your audience
Smile!
Don't stand in front of the screen
Don't dance from foot to foot
Don't wave your arms
Avoid the words "er", "um", "like", "I mean", "basically" etc
Speak clearly and slowly - leave pauses
Don't just read your slides out - the audience can do that
Instead, talk around and expand on each point
Keep it brief and keep the number of slides to a minimum

P.P.P.P.P

Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.

Write out your presentation.

Condense it down onto flick cards.

Practise is over and over again with any slides etc.

Get some friends to sit and watch you while you practise and ask them for comments.

Don't to talk too quickly take your time and enjoy yourself!

Practice if you are not used to doing presentations. Practice in front of someone. Know what you are talking about, use aids if you must. Many people are nervous about public speaking, just do your best, it gets easier the more times you do it.
