I read the book and did not see the movie because I was pretty sure it would be terrible. From what I saw most of the cast did not fit the roles. How was it in comparison to the book? Was it true to the book or did they change/leave a lot out? Worth buying, should I just wait til it's on tv, or don't even waste time watching it?

You were right to hold out on watching the movie. The book was fantastic, but the movie was terrible. Tom Hanks gave a less than impressive performace because you could tell that he wasn't "in" to the role. You could tell that he was offered a lot of money and just showed up to say the lines. Also, there was so much information in the book that they tried to cram into 2 hours that it all felt rushed and anti-climactic. My mom (who hasn't read the book) really liked the movie, but she didn't know what she was missing out on by not reading the book. So, I'd wait for at least for the video and just rent it, not buy.

Yeah, it was a good book. The film is not as good as the book but i think it's worth watching. They had missed out quite a lot from the book...
If they had spent more time casting and writing the movie it would have been much better.

I've read the book and really boggled my mind for Brown's vivid, unique, and original imagination to come out with this type of book which became the talk of the town worldwide. I considered it to be one of the most influencial books of the century.
If a bestseller book became a movie, pls. don't expect it to be as detailed as the book, movie will only get those chapters that they think the moviegoers will be interested in to watch to the point of changing and adding some scenes to the movie a bit. So if you already read the book and then watched the movie, then you're in for dissappointment. But if you watched it first on the screen w/o reading the book then you not only satisfied with the movie, you will buy the book as well to add on your collection.

The movie followed the book 99%, until the end. Instead of Sofie finding her grandmother in the house behind that old church, her grandmother finds her inside the church when the come out of that little room.

The movie was a little lame compared to the book though. Silas could've been played a little better. I always envisioned him as a bigger person than Paul Bettany.

Oh, and Reno was perfect. He's the one I envisioned from the beginning to play the French cop (forgot his name).

Why might that be considered cheating? I study the e book like 2 a million/2 years in the past....... in the previous they even knew a action picture replaced into popping out. The e book has been out 3 years! And the e book is often extra suitable than the unquestionably action picture after all.

I think that you should watch the movie as well, because a lot has been said about both of them, and it will be nice for you to have you own opinion on it.
I liked the book, but the movie had a lot of gaps in it's plot....

Some thought that Tom Hanks sucked, I thought he was quite nice in the role. I say watch the movie, if nothing but for the painting and architecture alone. I would watch it again, and it is on my chirstmas list. I say see it!
