Yahoo answers is a good place of course, but you need to be a little more specific.
Have you tried a search engine, just by adding the name of whoever you are looking for as the search criteria? I did that once and found a cousin in Canada I didn't know I had!
You've tried Friends United without any luck, you say. Hmmmm
Ask the people who are living at your friends old address if they have a forwarding address or even which town they went to? If you can narrow it doen to an area or town, then you can do a directory search in that area to try and find them?
Or dont any friends of friends have any idea?
Hope the party goes ahead - have a great time and that the old guys friends turn up.
:-)

How about writing to them at their old address in the hope they are having their post redirected by Royal Mail (if it's the UK)? Otherwise, try writing to their own address with a note on the envelope asking the new owners to pass on the letter if they have the address?

Please go to the following website, if you're in the US:
http://www.peoplefinders.com/ Find anyone, anywhere. Public record, people search service, and more.
Enter in the name of the person you are looking for and feel free to select the state you knew last the person was in, and look at the matches you make with that.
Also go to http://www.zabasearch.com/ Free People Search Engine. The #1 Free People Search and Public Information Search Engine and then enter the person's name where it says: Enter a Full Name and Click Submit, and look at the Results. Hope you find who you are looking for!

Well, if someone moved 3 months ago the Post Office should still redirect his mail. Hope that helps a little.

Go back to the house he used to live in as he may have left a forwarding address. If not-ask which estate agent they used to sell the house, contact them, explain the situation and see if yu can get a mobile number for him.

If you know the names and approximate ages, you can search them via the Electoral Register.
There are some sites like 192.com that lets you do this.
I think it costs a few pence a time.

www.192.co.uk is a site you can look at some information free of charge and then others (such as info from the electoral role) you have to buy credits. You can see ariel photographs of people's houses, see how much they bought the house for, see who their neighbours are..... it's scarey stuff!

maybe you could try saying the names of the towns or cities (on yahoo answers or in chat rooms) and then maybe you would get a response from people living in those towns/cities and ask them if they know those people.
