i haad my tubes tied 3 weeks ago. and before that I was on the birth control pills. i was wondering if anyone knows how long after you get your tubes tied can you go off the birth control pills. i asked my doctor and she said I can get off them now, but I thought you had to wait a few months.

uhm, getting your tubes tied means no more kids, your doctor has an education and a knowledge that you should learn to trust and respect, you can stop taking the pills

Tubal ligation is immediate and permanent. I had my tubes tied when my 2nd child was born, the way it works is that once the tubes are cut, tied, burned (however they do it), an egg cannot pass through the fallopian tubes. People have been known to get pregnant after tubal ligation, the only fool proof method of birth control is abstinance. Even after having my tubes tied almost 8 yrs ago, every time I am really sick the doc still takes a blood pregnancy test to make sure I am not pregnant and can take the antibiotics (I am allergic to many antibiotics).

why would u wait? nothing is coming through your tubes now. if u want wait till the next period and there u can for sure drop unnecessary pills. but i would do it now, as doctor suggested. u will never ever be pregnant again

I had a tubal ligation 20 years ago. I MUST ADMIT THAT I NOTICED I HAD AN INCREASED LIBIDO, PROBABLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT I DID NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BECOMING PREGNANT AND IT WAS SO NICE NOT TO HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT REMEMBERING TO TAKE THE PILL. FOR ME THE DOWN SIDE, WAS INCREASED PERIOD PAIN AND A LONGER MENSTRUATION TIME. IE. ON THE PILL 3 DAYS, AFTER TUBAL LIGATION 5 TO 6 DAYS. IT ALSO OCCURRED TO ME ; THAT IT WAS STILL POSSIBLE TO HAVE CHILDREN LATER IF I WANTED , THROUGH INVITRO FERTILISATION so keep that in mind in case of second thoughts

you can go off the pills immediately once your tubes are tied there can be no more babies
