i always find it hard, especially when i have a headache

Make sure you take a ten minute break every hour and relax for those ten minutes, It helps me, also doing a little meditation help your mind to be relaxed and absorb knowledge. Cramming everything can give you a headache and cramming method by no means is effective except for a last resort.

work for half an hour then go out and do something like have a drink or whatever for 10 minutes, and everyone finds getting getting tasks done with a headache hard

Most home environments have a high noise level --- T.V.'s playing, family members having conversations, etc. You might consider getting a package of the foam-type ear plugs sold to protect your hearing. In your case, it might reduce the background noise and distraction.

The best learning aids I've used are interactive CD-ROM packages....where they present some information and then ask you questions you can respond to by typing in the answers. It's much less boring than reading a book.

try studying at the same time everyday.
try studying at a quiet clutter free place.
where do u think this headache is coming from? r u sure u r not just making excuses not to study. if u r having chronic headaches that it interferes with your everyday studying than maybe its time to see a doctor.
the reason i say to study at the same time everyday is because u got to make studying a habit. when u make it a habit its harder to procrastinate.

day dream frequently i.e. visualize something extremely positive that could result from doing your homework, e.g. praise, self love, good grades etc. when you WANT something wonderful, it's much easier to work to achieve it.

take freguant breaks and eye strains are mostly responsible for most head aches
