Go with men and women are equal. Any argument based on "We're smarter! No, we're smarter" can easily be rebutted by both sides, and will inevitably end in a draw. The equality stance may be something the opposing team does not prepare for, and this will give you a definite edge. Plus, you will find a lot more scientific supporting evidence for this, whereas any other stance will generally be based on conjecture and subjective opinion. (Easily shot down in a debate.) Good Luck!! (Funny, no one else seemed to understand your question, except for the 1st answer.)

Brain studies suggest men navigate by remembering distance and directions, while women navigate better by familiar landmarks. Men tend to be better at problems involving visualization and women tend to be better at problems involving hearing, which is why there are more men engineers and more women translators and social workers. This conclusion is reinforced supposed roles preferred by evolution for men being hunters and women being gatherers and child rearers.
However even then some men are better translators and social workers than women and women are better engineers than men. Most tasks to do with work require a range of skills to do them effectively, only few people have all of them well developed. Often the best work unit is a team consisting of men and women.
Intelligence is defined by the person defining the intelligence tests, they are usually setup to show an overall score that has minimal bias between towards male and female advantages.

One cannot generalise - there are some men who are more intelligent than some women and there are some women who knocks spots off men in the brains department. Some people know a lot about a few topics and others know a little about lots of topics - who's to decide who is the most intelligent?

Keeping in mind that the types of testing used to measure "intelligence" could put men at an advantage and women at a disadvantage....
I've read that the smartest man is smarter than the smartest woman, but that the dumbest man is still dumber than the dumbest woman.
Overall though, I don't think a man and a woman sitting next to each other in the same level are necessarily smarter or dumber than each other. I think intelligence is an individual trait, not a gendered one.

This is such an odd question. There are smarter women on certain levels as there are smarter men on other levels. There are instances where men and women are equal.
If we look at the inmates scattered across this land, the percentage of discrepancy is huge. Now, does that mean women are smarter? And what about the ratio of men to women in upper management positions? Is it men are smarter, or are we still holding onto "men in charge"?
As the world ages, women and men will openly become more closely matched, if it is what women want.
As for my husband and I, I am better at math, woodworking, glasswork and cooking. He is better at sealing the deal, supporting his family, and keeping the cars running and teaching our sons how to be good men. Does that make one of us more valuable or smarter? Hardly.
Overall, men and women ARE equal, but it will take quite some time for that to be universally, at least here in the US...smiling, acceptable.

Ive read that the deviations on an IQ test place men both in the highest level of IQ and in the lowest, therefore men have a much bigger range...they are the smartest, but also the most mentally disabled.
Women on the other hand tend to be more in the middle. This is probably because they have been throughout history child-raisers (not military strategists or inventors) and they go mostly off of emotion anyway so IQ isn't the best way to measure them.

First, you would have to establish what do you mean by Intelligence. There are many kinds of intelligence: spacial, mathematical, musical, artistic, conceptual, imaginative, etc.
Secondly, every individual is consistently different in the degree of capability of use of the different modalities of intellectual skills. To some extent, since people excel in what they like most, intelligence is a matter of taste.

It is completely impossible to tell who is more intelligent. Women are smarter than men in certain areas and men are smarter than women in certain areas, but as a whole...no way to know.
