Make a collage of torn pieces of colorful handmade paper on a piece of 8x11 white cardstock. When the collage is dry, take a gold or silver glitter glue pen and draw random swirls and dots all over, taking care to use it as an accent and not coverup your beautiful collage. Once the entire thing is dry , cut it up into small triangles using a template so they are all the same size. Glue each little "tree" to a small square of gold or silver cardstock. Now glue 4 of these in a grid to a piece of red or green cardstock and apply to a square white card you make yourself from 1/2 a sheet of 8x11 cardstock. You can further embellish with craft wire strung with colorful seed beads if you wish. Stamp Merry Christmas on a small rectangle of white card and heat emboss in gold or silver and apply to the lower right hand corner with foam dots for added dimension.

My uncle made a card by collecting all the photos from the year of everyone in their little family, putting them all on dvd and timing it to a Christmas carol. He ran a message along the bottom wishing everyone a happy Christmas and doing the usual greetings.

It was great because you get to see everything that happened - even my cousins little temper tantrums.

Using brightly coloured card and tissue paper...

Fold the card into three even sections.
Trace a shape (tree etc...) onto the first section and cut through with a craft knife making sure it cuts right through to the second section also.
Place a nicely contrasting piece of tissue paper between the first and second sections and glue them together.
This should give you a two sided card with a cut through shape on the front. You can also print a nice photo onto tracing paper for a lovely partially transparant window.
(hope my directions aren't too garbled)

I would glue fresh holly, fir or other seasonal bits of real greenery to the front cover of the card and put some family photos in and around a montage of objects.

Last year I used a picture of our home in the winter. I played around with it in a photo editing, and added snowflakes to the edges. It was nice.
