no it is just that the indian team in cricket is better than any other indian team in another sport
if india had to enter the world cup of football and win it then may be football can overshadow cricket in india
just as tennis is being popular because SANIA MIRZA is the only indian woman to have seeded higher

People have that choice to watch or play cricket or to support other sports. Nobody in India is forced to like cricket and I have met Indians who don't like the sport at all. The reason why cricket has a stranglehold is a cultural phenomena and is ingrained into the Indian psyche. Its akin to the Americans fascination with american football, basketball and baseball. These sports dominate the american sporting calendar and all other sports are minor just as the Indians love cricket and all other sports are seemingly unimportant.

Apart from hockey, I honestly didn't know that any sports other than cricket were EVER popular in India.

i dont think so. this is a democratic country and every one has the rigth to choose his or her sport. but our country is a cricket had a big boom after the worldcup victory. but that does not mean that other sports are not thriving well in our country.we have many good players in tennis, hokey,golf,brilliards,badminton and the lists does not end hear. and i want to tell u that our goverment till now given the least support to cricket in comparision to other sports. so i think ur wrong my friend.

yes but some people hate this game . In India people think that cricket is another religion this is becuase children follow thier parents it is coming since cricket was starting.

Other sports are already killed since cricket became popular. For which other sport do you see such convinced people who would leave everything and watch the game....no other sport.

No i dont agree,wats the fault of cricket if no other game is popular, people r interested in the game so they watch it.
See its very simple, India is not gud at sports as countries like australia which r ud at every sport coz they r sports based countries and we r study based ,but we do produce more docters and engineers than any other country,the reason tat why we r not gud at sports is tat people do not choose any sports as their proffesion,in a country like india where 25%of population is living under poverty line ,the main objective of people is to earn money and feed their family.So most of the people in India want to become Docters & engineers or any other job to secure their future,even gud sportsperson of any sport be it hockey ,football or even cricket do make it a career coz they r not sure of a gud future in sports .
Looking at the condition of people in india ,i think ,sports has no say in our country, the life of most of the people here is not a bed of roses tat they can choose a proffesion of their choise,many of them compromise.
so i think tat its not cricket which is harming other sports its poverty which forces people of india to study and not to play .
i m happy tat atleast one game of cricket exists here which people play coz tis is the only game which people know how to play other than studies.

i thk its probably true.coz all the people in india are mad 4 it,me too.so they no time to watch or enjoy others.neither the people nor the govt noone are interested 4 other games.so india becomes poor in all games,also in cricket india doesnt perform well.if they cant play well so people must thk of it,which game they should prefer?
