i am a journalist. i recently enrolled ta the university and got a master's degree in journalism . And that is when my problem began. i used to write excellent prose, filled with emotions and style. but after my potsgraduate degree, i dont write as well anymore. technically my writing is good. but it is mechanical and lacks life. i believe i av learnt too many rules at the university! what should i do to go back to my former state?

Do a bit of freelance stuff that you, yourself are interested in. It's not hard work, and the more involved you get, the more you will see of your original self in the writing. Downfall is you have to submit, if you don't look upon it as work......rather reclaimation, it's all good. Let rip!!!!!
Don't be so hard on yourself, not everyone beats themselves up after recently getting a masters - cheers!

never try to unlearn things because it will come in handy later,
just put the things you have learned together with what you know the other way and try to find a common denominator with what you have.
