1.) Yes, I actually have a couple - it was a nightmare sitting down and writing it the first time but once I'd finished it was much easier to use it as a template to add to. I have a temporary work CV and a couple of different permanent job CV's for different type of jobs all slight modifcations of the same basic format. I found the wesbite; www.businessballs.com really helpful in helping to create the CV.
2.) I did think of having a CV professionally done but I've seen CV's that have been professionally done (especially when I was a recruitment consultant) and they can come across as mass produced and impersonal.
3.) I personally wouldn't I would always use the resources on the internet and in my local library first.
4.) I'm not sure but I guess you have to think of it in terms of how long will the work take - 1 hr? how much are you really willing to pay someone for that much work...

Well, I'm in a secure job, so I haven't written a CV for 6 years now, but if I choose to leave, I would get free CV writing training as part of my resettlement courses. this is because the military way of life is different from the civilian way of life. If some military person who had been in for say, 25 years was just "booted" out tomorrow, it would be difficult to re-integrate with the rest of society.
I realise we're the exceptions to the rule, but I may pay to get my CV done for me, as I hated writing those things. I would be willing to pay as high as £15 for a professionally made CV.

I have a CV, It was not professionally done and I wouldn't pay for it to be done by someone else as it needs so sound as though it has come from you, they will know if you make it to the interview stage. I got some help from a Manager, I would suggest you get as many copy's of CVs as you can and take inspiration from them. If you want a copy of mine, let me know

most people have a CV. I do. i've never had one professionally done. mainly down to cost. You obviously know how to use a P.C!!! Employers generally want information, NOT "fancy packaging" If i did get one done by someone else i certainly wouldn't pay a lot, no more than say £15. As i said you know how to use a P.C so go down the shops and buy a program so you can do your own. Its simple. (& dont forget to keep it updated as that saves trying to remember lots of little bits of info later in life") p.s good luck with the job search.

1-Yes, and it is updated.
2- Yes, by a job agent... and checked and re-checked by specialists on CVs.
3- No, not again. Now I know how to do it, so I can create a new CV from scratch, and hopefully be successful with it.
4- Nothing. I prefer to spend my money on books that can teach me how to write a CV.

Yes I have got a CV, as soon as I change jobs I update it. I would NEVER ask someone to do it for me. CVs are much better if they are written by the person concerned.

I have a CV, out of date now though.
I had it done for free by a nice lady who visits the Job Centres in the area, so I did not have to pay for it.
As a single mum I cannot afford to pay, sorry

Hi Rebecca,
Your C.V. depends on your age, stage of career etc.
If you are having trouble listing your responsibilites, try reading job ads, you will get a lot of ideas for vocabulary and key phrases the employers are looking for.
It may seem a daunting task to start writing a C.V. but once you get stuck in you would be surprised at what you come up with.
Good ,ick
