Wow, what a group! If Whitney Houston hadn't married Bobby Brown and gone astray I would say her even over the extremely talented Mariah Carey AND Celine Dion who is a little too one dimensional for me. Christina and Beyonce are good and both excellent entertainers but I don't think their voices are in the same category as the other three. So, confusing as my answer may be, I would have to choose Mariah Carey. She is so at the top of her game again and she deserves all the praise she has been getting again!

Whitney before the crack

But Mariah Carey, though she is a bit whiny, would have to be the best one out of the list.

Rotten, I'm not quite following you on your path of voice. I studied voice as a 1st soprano coloratura for many years and one octave doesn't make an exceptional singer. It's when that person has many octaves to work with that makes them a good singer (along with other qualities) and Mariah, Whitney and Celine can boast that. I'm really not all that sure that Christina and Beyonce can stand up to the other 3 like that. Beyonce's music has become boring and stagnant; and Christina can only sing one style (like Celine, but Celine definitely out does her on range). I heard her on an awards show about a year ago doing a jazz tune and she destroyed it with the scales and trills.

o.k. so we are trying to compare

bread against butter and cheese.

maria carey,is one of the few woman in the business
that has a complete full octave sining range..

very rare- very beautiful-very very good.

But then again so did whitney houston before bobby brown
came along and destroyed her life. Can she ever get her pre-drugged out voice back ? I doubt it..

so then the next in line would be celine dion
although she sings at a different pitch than the big M.
she also has a very rare gift of perfect octave in the full
spectrum

now the last two would be at the bottom of the real voice
sining chalenge.though they are very good at what they do.

I believe Beyonce has a better vocal range that Christina.

for little christina comes in last........

I'd say Celine Dion. She sings from her heart. It's hard to explain in words. The Latin expression, "de gustibus non est disputandum," means, literally, "concerning taste or preference, there can be no dispute," or, colloquially, "there's no accounting for taste." That goes part of the way toward explaining it.

I would explain it further by analogy: Some years ago, a movie called, "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" was released. There was a scene in that movie where the proprietor of the whorehouse, played by Dolly Parton, who was in love with the sheriff, played by Burt Reynolds, sang to the sheriff a song that had actually been written by Dolly in real life, "I Will Always Love You." It was heart rending.

Some time later, Whitney Houston recorded her version of Dolly's song, and it was a big hit for Whitney. Some people who wrote Imdb, the Internet Movie Data Base, with reviews of the movie said that they liked Whitney's version better than Dolly's. I disagreed then, and I still do. To me, Whitney's version lacked heart. It came across to me as a tour de force -- it sounded as if she were nudging the audience in the ribs and confiding, "Listen to what I can do with my voice," and it seemed strangely removed from the meaning of the lyrics of the song itself.

Celine's focus on the emotion of the songs she selects to perform can be inferred in part from the songs she selects, from "The Power of Love" and "Because You Loved Me," to the theme from Titanic, "My Heart Will Go On.".

All five singers mentioned in your question are outstanding; but Celine Dion, alone among them, is one of a kind.

Celine Dion, she can take you there with her sweet voice and she can hit those high notes and makes it seem like second nature. Listen to her song Prayer from her A new day has come album you will know what i mean.

I would definately have to say Christina. Granted she isn't one of my favs right now she has always had the best range and can still manage to make the song flow properly. She can keep the song classy and her more somber songs have always managed to give me goosebumps.
