If the build up is too bad, you may need a cleaning stone (it looks like a pumus stone). They usually sell these in the same isle as the toilet bowl cleaners. Once you've got it clean, you can use those tablets that you drop in the toilet tank to prevent the stains from returning.

IRON-OUT always works for me. Be careful of the fumes when you pour this powder in your toilet. I put it in the tank as well as the bowl. I then put the container on the lid so no one uses the toilet for at least 2 or 3 hours. I would put it in during the night so it can work overnight.

put bleach in the toilet, then get a pumice stone and rub the pumice stone around the toilet this will get those stains out!
