Wow--there were a lot of great movies in the 80's: Pretty in Pink, Dead Poet's Society, Back to the Future, Eddie and the Cruisers, Ferris Bueller's Day off, Young Guns, When Harry Met Sally,Top Gun, Stand by Me, Sixteen Candles, The Money Pit, The Goonies--I could go on and on

And I didn't go online, I became a teenager in the 80's and these movies were awesome. I actually own most of these.

But in my opinion the all time best movie of the 80's was The Breakfast Club. Who doesn't love that movie and who can't identify with it?

The worst might have been Breakin' or Purple Rain

The high points of 80s films are that they have literally become land marks in history, its all about the feel good factor. The 70s saw the birth of the shock horror films and many wavered away from just being good old fashion family fun to watch, that was left to disney really!!alot of these films are also of the teenage genre, for me the 80s hit back at the adult movies of the 70s (yes and i do mean some elements of soft porn) and bought movies back down to what people wanted to see and were about. Some great examples are the Breakfast Club, Girls just Wanna have fun, Footloose, Money can't buy me love etc. These movies allowed teenagers to see how they can take control and create anarchy to break away from the mould that society had created. People talk about how the 60s were all about free love, well i think that after the stale 70s (as i like to call them) the 80s reiterated some of this, and this was done through films.

think about other eras the 50/60s created political messages through music and non political movements, whereas the 80s used films, it might be just me but when you think about it there are alot of teenage feel good movies and super hero films, zombie movies (are we all just little puppets in this governemnt state) maybe it was a political message to people, think about the things that were going on in the eights, like strikes, unemployment??

good luck!

The 80s wasn't precisely a classic decade for action picture making - given how great the 70s have been for traditional movies. It replaced into the decade of the blockbuster action picture, and replaced into somewhat Speilberg's era. it is likewise the decade the place the Brits have been meant to bounce forward - what occurred? :-). i assume it replaced into additionally the era the place Meryl Streep grew to grow to be an Oscar universal for her roles in Silkwood, Sophie's selection and Out of Africa. the best videos would desire to be Raging Bull; ET; Tootsie; Out of Africa; Elephant guy; coaching Rita; Amadeus; the colour purple; Platoon; Do the marvelous factor; A Passage to India; Silkwood; A Room with a View; risky Liaisons. Worst? Take your p.c.., because of the fact the studios began to mount sequel upon sequel.

Being that I was a teenage girl in the 80's, the John Hughes movies were incredibly meaningful to me. The 80's also produced one of the best scary movies ever - "The Hitcher." I don't care what anyone says, I liked "Ishtar". It certainly wasn't one of the high points but it was enjoyable.

Real low point - "Porky's"
