No, it will not hurt the baby. You need to ask your doc what you can take.

I had terrible coughing due to respiratory infection throughout my entire pregnancy. I would cough so violently it would make me 'toss my cookies'! And I coughed like that right thru delivery. I thought I might cough the baby loose! But he was born without any complications, healthy and bright, and right on time.
You can't take any cough medicine to help you stop coughing because it might harm the baby. Try straight lemon juice mixed with honey. It helps a little. Hope you feel better soon!

Your coughing does not affect the baby. Sip on some warm water with honey and lemon juice added. It's a real soother.

To make it a little easier on you and your baby grab a pillow and hold it against your chest when you cough. Sounds crazy but it'll work.

Just so you know, holding a pillow to your stomach is supposed to help prevent cracking a rib. You can cough so hard that this can happen, & can be painful. Congrats, be careful, & call dr.

Do not take any medication without consulting with your physician first. Many medications you cannot take while pregnant, especially in the first trimester. Good luck.
