Whoa. I have studied a lot of subjects in my time, and I'd say abortion is the single hardest to call.
I think, practically speaking, its all a question of time. If the pregnancy was terminated 1 second after the first conception, so all you've got is a sperm and an egg that have just met, most people would think thats OK.
If you terminated a few hours before a natural birth, most people would agree that's murder. Somewhere is between in a line, and people tend to differ on where to draw the line.

I am pro-choice, not for or against. Having an abortion when you have considered all your options and are still very early in the pregnancy is not murdering anything. It is removing a cluster of unwanted cells. All women lose an egg once a month which could have become a baby, so is that murder too? I think the issue become more difficult after 12-ish weeks when there is evidence of foetal activity, movement etc.
I had an abortion at 10 weeks and I don't regret it. I couldn't have given that baby any quality of life. I would have been a single mother on the dole. I knew I couldn't have the baby and then give it up for adoption, partly because there are lots of children waiting for families in care homes and partly because i know I would have yearned for the baby once it was in the world. I still think about what might have been but i don't regret it.
I live in the real world. People make mistakes. People sometimes are careless. An abortion should never be a method of birth control but it's better than a baby being born to a mother who didn't truly want it.

Abortion is simply wrong. When I found out I was pregnant (aged 18) my mother insisted I had an abortion, she even wrote to my boyfriend behind my back asking him to persuade me to have an abortion.
At the end of the day, no matter what age people believe, the thing inside you is a life, and you are taking life away from a human being.
In some places you can have an abortion up to 24 weeks of pregnancy, now take a look at this website http://teenmoms.ourfamily.com/pregnant.htm
and tell me whether you could honestly justify killing any of these?? The 8 week ld foetus is already looking like a person. From day 1 that child has a heartbeat. Abortion is the taking away of life, which is wrong

I'm not all for or all against abortions. I think when comes to someone being raped, in the case of incest, and when if it will save the mother's life I feel like it's the best thing.I do not agree with selfish women that go and have unprotected sex and get themselves pregnant and don't want to be responsible for their actions and go and have abortions, sometimes more than once.I had my first daughter at a very early age, 15, and I was very scarred but I pushed through everyday, and I look at her now 5 years later and can't imagine my life without her.

I'm Against abortion but i think that in special circumstances like a person having a baby when she has been raped is ok also aborting a baby that has no quality of life. Its too easy now days for women to go get abortions they should use some sort of protection against it young mums especially i knew 2 people who had abortions before we finished school (aged 16) and it makes me really angry for the people who cant have babys naturally that someone can just go and kill there own unborn child.

Sounds like an interesting assignment, I am against it, I believe that the baby chooses its parents and look at the amount of people who try and try for a baby, a baby chooses its time and parents, who are we to decide if that human soul is to come or not?
I was a young mum at 17, the father to my son was 19 and he hasn't anything to do with my son. I am glad I didn't abort as I know my son has potential like any human been.
I think the only circumstances abortion should be allowed is for rape victims and when its a life or death situation for the mother.
You can have unprotected sex heaps and not fall pregnant then have protected sex and then fall pregnant, when its meant to be it is, Who are we to say its to hard and I don't want to do that, yes we should have a choice but the choice is if you have sex and fall pregnant stand up and do whats right, its a lesson in life you needed to learn and by aborting you have defeated the purpose of the lesson sent.

I am against abortion except in certain circumstances. These would be to save the life of the mother, rape and incest. The first of these is self explanatory because obviously if the mother dies the child will also die. I know that if a child is conceived by rape that the mother will suffer endlessly for something that is not her fault. Even if she gives the child up for adoption she will have created a child through hate. This hate could eat her whole life and cause pain forever. Incest is rape plus the killing of trust so is even worse. These few reasons for abortions should always be done in the early months of the pregnancy. There should be absolutely no late term abortions.

Personally I am pro choice but strongly believe that prevention is better than cure! If you are "mature" enough to conceive a baby youshould be mature enough to use contraception and decide if you are ready to have a baby, however this is often not the case. Some babies are conceived as the result of rape, some through ignorance or lack of education and some are just a mistake. In some cases a mothers situation might change and she may not be able to provide for the child. In some cases the mothers life might be at risk. I think that it is better not to have a child who will be unloved and unhappy and that the mother will resent for the rest of its life so yes I am pro choice however I am against it being used as a form of contaception.

I believe that most women who have abortions do so in order to avoid having a baby that is not wanted. Yes, it is 'murder', but I don't believe for one second that abortions are carried out in hatred. The women who abort babies are usually only trying to protect the baby from the hurt of being unwanted. I still think it is wrong, but it is not a crime of hate. The intention behind the action is what matters, not the action itself. For example, all those people saying it is murder, are also saying it is ok to abort when the mother's life is endangered or she has been raped. So its not the abortion that is the issue, it's the reason behind it. If you really do believe abortion is murder, then why wouldn't you die for the sake of your unborn child? Or why would you punish a rape child just because it's father had problems? I think people here are contradicting themselves.

People deserve the right to choose something that serious. Not too many people can use it as birth control as it is expensive. And thats the biggest fear of most people.
What I am against however is the woman that has the three kids by three different men and has no relationship with any of the men. She works all the time leaving the kids with who ever will watch them or better yet is on welfare and raises the children in poverty and in the projects.
Why do feel we need to judge others and act like our choices are perfect?
