Don't do it!!! This is permanent - you will never be a whole man ever again. It's dreadful.

Sorry I don't have pictures but I am sure if you do a Google search you can find some on the computer. Now as for a serious answer to your question you don't need to worry about shaving anything. The doctor will do that for you if it needs to be done or he will tell you at your surgical consult what you need to do to prepare for the surgery. You will be given enough medication during this procedure that pain will not be unbearable. That's something that babies don't get when they are circumcised. The effect will be that your penis will be more sensitive to stimulation's. Having this done will also reduce your risk of some infections that men who are not circumcised get. It's really a good idea from a medical standpoint that you get this done. I am not sure of your age but if and when sex is an issue for you and your partner will be thankful you got circumcised.

I suppose you are a full-grown male adult. I do not recommend you be circumsized. It is better done when much younger. The procedure is terribly painful as an adult because the tissues around the glans penis are well developed, unlike in a baby or young infant. Unless for some cosmetic/surgical reason (relating to your fertility bordering on sexual activity) you want to go ahead, good.

i am circumsized at age 12, this is due to our culture. its not as painful as you thought it is. the doctor uses anaesthesia and cuts the excess skin just below the head. one sign that you are ready for circumcision is that the head of your penis should be visible and must be out of the skin. usually it hurts a day after the operation when the anaesthesia wears off. but should be fine after a few days.
the effect is that is makes your penis less sensitive since the head is exposed and i guess it also has to do with sanitary reasons since smegma, this is the white stinky substance you find under your hood does not develop when you dont wash your penis.
there is no need to shave.

Circumcision as an adult is only a minor operation and you will soon heal and gain all the many benefits that only a circumcised man can understand. Look at pictures of the results on any of the Yahoo circumcision sites, such as "Acucullophilia! or "Sexy to be circumcised" Congratulations on deciding to be circumcised - females will love it!
