Tomorrow (actually today, I can't sleep) my husband and I are taking our 2 year old daughter to Disneyland for her 2nd birthday. I have heard horror stories about taking young toddlers to Disneyland, but I have also heard good stories too. She doesn't really scare easily, so I'm not too worried about that, she isn't shy, BUT she is VERY active and doesn't like to sit/stand still, even for short periods. This concerns me when it comes to waiting in line, because I know you can't bring a stroller in line. Just the other day at a bakery we had to wait in line for about 10 minutes and she didn't want us to hold her (was like pushing herself off of us) and when it came to standing in line she would for a minute or so but then got sick of holding our hands and kept trying to run off. We are strict with her, but she has a speech delay and isn't talking much yet, so it's a challenge. Any advice or suggestions for how to make our day run as smoothly as possible?? Thanks!

Kids under 4 really don't get Disneyland. It's very overwhelming even for some adults. A real mature 3 year old maybe could handle the lines but if your child can't stand in line at a bakery nor have a place to sit like a stoller she is going to get very grumpy very fast. Most of the rides there now are not for little ones anymore. So its really going to be disappointing for you that she can't go on most rides.
Find a small amusement park that just has kiddie rides. They do exist and when she can handle well that then take her to Disneyland in a couple of years when she is taller.
It is an lot of money to spend to just walk around the park or one sits on the bench with the baby while the other goes on a ride. Disneyland is just not little kid friendly as it used to be...

Sure! Cancel the trip to Disneyland and spend some quality time with her.
Can you imagine being two years old and seeing a mouse bigger than you are?Or a duck that is half naked.I mean,if he was all naked it would be cool because that's how ducks are suppose to be but,why is he wearing a hat,a shirt,AND NO PANTS!
Seriously though,if your child is familiar with the Disney caricatures Disneyland might be fun but remember, there's a difference between seeing Goofy on TV and seeing him in person.(In person he looks like an unsaved homeless person!Think about it.)
Don't do the corporate entertainment thing on your two year old daughter.Take her to some big trees, let her see what it looks like from the top of a mountain(a natural mountain not man made.)
Let her see some big sky where there's no skyscrapers.
Maybe when she's older and more acquainted with the Disney set up you could take her.
But maybe if you take her to see some nature you won't ever have to take her to Disneyland.

First thing is to dress her in bright clothes so you can spot her easily when she runs off since you don't control her. As to the park, my then two year old (now 12) was afraid of everything so it didn't go well. At 3, we went back and she only wanted to be with the "princesses" (Cinderella, Snow White w/o Dwarfs and Ariel). Basically the character had to have a human face (no Mickey or Goofy).

Good luck.

I went to Disneyland for my forth birthday and that i enjoyed it regrettably I basically bear in mind some bits and usually one replaced into my brother being unwell interior the pool and us diving down gathering the chunks gross i comprehend... I took my husband for his thirtieth and we enjoyed it.. weekdays are best advantageous and particularly and you get to flow on each and all of the rides without lines.. she can get her face painted and you could perchance via her something to gown up in .. take a great number of photos reason she wont bear in mind a great number of it that's a disgrace.. try taking her returned while she is 7 -12
