The only thing bitter about this end has been cause by the Republicans. The first order of business ff or the democrats is to clean up the colossal mess left by those who abandoned their own principles. Fiscal conservatism was replace by trillions in debt. Moral value leadership was replaced by the news of Abramoff, Foley and Haggard. A strong defense was ruined by the war in Iraq, leaving the military hobbled and the Generals and troops demoralized by such a loony policy ( William F. Buckley ). Democrats have a lot of clean up to do. If the Republicans had handled their mandate properly, their would be no democratic victory today.

There never was a very strong revolution anyway because there were only 2 years in the past 12 that there was enough margin of seats in the house and senate to move the revolution along. So it was a struggling revolution most of that time. The last 6 years under Bush especially since 9/11/01 had lost the revolutionary steam because the R's had to employ costly measures to maintain the economy while taking on the war against Islamic Jihadists. The loss of congress and maybe the senate are a message to Republicans that, while economic issues may have been played well, the political realities of the war were not. Now that D's have some control, they can and will shape the debate going forward to 2008. It will not be an easy time for R's, but it wasn't the last 6 years anyway.

Yes, yes, yes!!!!!! In the last dozen years of Republican rule in Congress, I've taken more than enough of their freaking, stomach-turning rhetoric for the VERY last time!!!!! Now that most of them have lost their House seats and about to break even with the Democrats in the Senate, it DEFINITELY looked more like the end of the Republican revolution as we already know it!!!

Could have been, but making Pelosi speaker they will manage to give it back, with her tax increases, liberal policies, policies that have bankrupted her home state. California cannot pay their electric bill, control immigration, their crime rate is soaring, illegal immigration is out of control, not to mention it is the most morally crippled area this side of Denmark. I thought maybe the democrats would be smart enough to put a moderate Democrat in power as speaker, but they are going to hand everything they won tonight back in two years. How stupid!

It's the bitter end of progress in the House of Representatives and the bitter end of tax relief that the Republicans gave us.
