a prime number is a number that can only be divided by itself as well the number one. for exampl 13 can only be divided by one and 13 to get a whole number as an answer. the same is true for 2, 5, 7, 11 etc. however it does not include all odd numbers, though a large number of prime numbers are odd numbers. for example, the number 9 can be divided by 1, 3 and 9. so it is not a prime number because it has more than 2 factors(numbers a number can be divided by). however, the number 1 is NOT a prime number, though most say it is. this is cause number 1 can only be divided by 1. it has only one factor, whereas prime numbers have 2, so thus, it is not a prime factor. hope tt helped :)

A prime number is a whole number that is only divisible by itself and 1. There are infinite amounts of prime numbers the most common... 1 , 2 , 3 , 5 , and 7... It's mostly odd numbers because even numbers are always divisible by 2 except 2 itself... So prime numbers are number that are only divisible by 1 and themselves.

Eg: 5,7,13. etc. Prime numbers play an important role in the field of cryptography for developing encryption algorithms because of its unique property. As it is not divisible by ant other number hence to find a number prime is a tedious task.

A prime number is a number that can only be divided by one or itself with no decimal points after it. For example, 3 is a prime number because it can only be divided by 3 or 1. If you try to divide it by 2, you'll get 1.5 as the answer.

A Prime Number has only two factors. They are one and itself. For Ex: if u take 2, 1,2 are its factors. Apart from 1, it has only one factor. Hence it is called Prime Number. Prime means only one. 1 is not considered since it is Universal Factor.
