Did you ever think that maybe it is you? Maybe your sperm is not as potent anymore. Why do you just assume it is something wrong with her? Have either of you been checked to see if you are both still fertile? 40 is a bit young for menopause, so she should still have a good 10 years of child bearing years left. I went 13 years in between my children so just because you don't get pregnant when you want does not mean it is not possible. You both need to see a Doc. and pray about it.

As you get older in age it gets harder to become pregnant. At 35 it took my a year and a half to have my second child although my first one we conceived took 7 months. Both should be tested because your sperm count my be low as well but with us I just wasn't dropping the eggs like I used to. I took a very low fertility drug called chlomid (gyn can prescribe. Anything higher in dosage must see a fertility specialist) and after the 3rd try we got our daughter. See the doctor and ask about chlomid first. If that doesn't work I would seek out a fertility specialist and have both tested to make sure you don't need something else. Good luck

She could possibly be peri-menopausal..the time that the body starts to run out of good eggs about seven to ten years before menopause starts. If you both really want to have another baby she might want to start charting her periods and her periods of fertility: with ovulation thermometers or ovulations kits that you can buy from the chemist. If she keeps a record of her temperature every morning before getting out of bed it will show her when she is most fertile and then you can baby dance at that time and hopefully catch the egg. She might also think about seeing a herbalist to get her onto some good fertility herbs that will strengthen the eggs and her womb. Also you could start wearing boxers instead of briefs and take a zinc supplement to increase the quality of the swimmers (not saying they aren't already good..just a suggestion). There are a ton of great websites out there to support ppl trying to conceive. Check them out. Good luck and I hope you get your wish soon.
