In this modern day and age, boundaries are blurred. Demarcating and distinguishing different relationships with different people become more and more difficult.

Certainly, you might say that some forms of body language are exclusive only to couples or to those who have something going on between them, [whatever that is]. Does kissing/holding hands/etc a clear indicator that there is something aside from friendship? Why so? Where do you demarcate 'friends only' from 'more than friends'? (or worse, not friends at all.)

My opinion is that boundaries depend on both people and their belifes...but if there is kissing going on, one of you probably sees it as/wishes that it was more than a simple friendship. Hand holding in itself can not be an indicator because people do hold hands under non-romatic circumstances. I guess it just depends on the people and their views, but if this is happening you need to sit down and have a talk about your relationship where it is headed. This may be hard in first place, but it is better safe than sorry to make sure that no one gets hurts more than they must be.

Friends don't hold hands and kiss, couples do. Why? It's a step on from mere friendship, and a prelude to something even more intimate.
