You can send a thank you letter to express your appreciation to the employer for taking time out of their busy schedule to meet and speak with you. It's not a letter where you ask for the job, but you might add something about your enthusiasm for the position. But, keep in mind, the primary reason is to thank them.

Not every interviewee sends a thank you letter, which is why I think it is a good idea for you to send one! Not only does it show the employer that you are courteous, but it makes you stand out from the rest!

It is not pushy but polite!

Good luck!

You usually send a thank you letter to the company after the interview.

ermmm.... If you have been to an interview, it would be up to the company to contact you to offer you a job. If thats the case, then you just want a formal letter of acceptance - the format would be dictated by the offer they sent you.

if you havent been contacted after the interview, I am afraid that is a rather impolite way of saying "You're Not wanted".

as someone who has done the odd interview myself, I would never expect anyone to write thanking me for the interview. I would see it as a bit pushy

I wouldn't advise writing to ask for the job after an interview - could be seen as a bit pushy. If you want to, you could drop them a brief line thanking them (but most people wouldn't bother).
