The count would only be needed in the case of a very close thing, and to get the final numbers later on. But we would not have to wait up all night watching swingometers ect the result would be just after the polls close

Some ballot papers are spoiled and human error needs to be checked. But its a great idea we do the same with coins and banknotes

What would stop someone from sticking a bit of gaffer tape on the back? It would count as 4/5 votes !

Thanks for the smile. Reminds me of the miller's "golden thumb": a corrupt voting official leaving a thumb on the scales while the weigh-in is being done. May be popular with governments like Azerbaijan or Egypt.

I don't think this proposition was thoroughly thought through.

Good idea the papers are sorted before being counted. Counting is what takes the time

you don't have to stay up all night you know. lol

Besides i wouldn't want everyone knowing who i voted for if we had to place the vote papers in different ballot boxes.
