Although really I don't care, I just find it funny because many people predominantly Caucasians and Asians always think or most of the time think I am Korean when in fact I am Japanese. Sometimes to the point where a Korean person in Japan approached me and started talking in Korean and once at University in Canada a British girl asked if she was pronouncing these Korean words right. My sister sometimes has this problem but they think she's Chinese.

my observations, as a retail person:

japanese- they are very patient, & tend to bow alittle as they speak to you.

korean- generally, they are taller, & tend to display more gestures as they speak.

but i'm talking about native japanese & koreans. when i'm in u.s.a, i can't tell the chinese, japanese & the koreans apart from one another.

My son dyed his hair from blonde to black for a school dance, during that time the school was host to 20 Japanese exchange students, after they left he received a letter from a female student who fell in love with the BACK of his head at the dance! And spoke of her surprise to find he was caucasian when she saw his face ! I cannot distinguish, the easiest way for me is to say "g'day what language is that?" And......the the word caucasian lumps asians together anyway......it's funny/weird!!!!! Good question!

Oriental is a style of art, not a 'race' of people. The Orient is a land mass fom Afghanistan to Mongolia, but not a group of people. There are Oriental lampshades, Oriental rugs, but NO ORIENTAL PEOPLE!!!!

Who cares what you look like?

Koreans have wide, moon-shaped faces with flat, elongated nostrils and more rounded eyes than the Chinese.

This is really dumb but it is what I heard when I was a kid.
My momma was Chinese(eyes slant up) my daddy was Japanese(eyes slant down) and me mine aren't slanted. I told you it was dumb but I do think of that when I see an Oriental person.
