Yes everyone is correct. "Save the Last Dance".
She quits ballet because her Mother is killed in a car accident and she blames herself.
Moves to a new city to live with her Dad, goes to a new (mostly black) High School.
Manages to snag the best looking student there.
It has some great dance sequences.
Fairly predictable ending but otherwise a good movie I thought.
Julia Stiles is very good in the lead role of Sara and others include: Sean Patrick Thomas as the boyfriend Derek and Kerry Washington as her best friend.

It's called "Blood Dance". The guy falls in love with the girl but she doesn't feel the same way about him. She tries to run away from him. He soon goes mad and cuts her feet off so she can't try to leave him again. He needs other dance partners so he kidnaps women off the street and forces them to audition for the dancing parts. He kills the girls who fail the dance-offs. Meanwhile, the girl with the chopped off feet tries to escape. Good movie but not for the squeamish. I recommend it.
