It's unfair to attack politics - politics is simply the process by which groups make decisions (Wikipedia). The problems with what we understand as politics (the government, for example) stem from other things - the way they are funded, their bureacracy and so on. But to get rid of politics would leave you in an anarchist free for all.

Religion is something altogether different. Religion is making judgements about the world based on unproven (and whats worse, unproveable) assumptions. This removes any kind of evidence based judgment, and therefore any connection with the actual world we're living in. A very dangerous thing to do.

For example, the bible condones slavery, and the killing of homosexuals, non believers and people who work on a Sunday.
It's living in todays world by uninformed 2000 year old (or older, depending on your religion, I guess) rules. Small wonder the world is so violent.

My mum always said never get in an argument over religion or politics because there are no right answers. Ain't that the truth! I think religion should be banned in public. Practice your religion but do it in your own home and get rid of churches, mosques etc.

Politics has advantages and disadvantages but getting rid of it would just cause mayhem! Who would run the world?
Religion is something that does cause wars and misunderstanding between human beings but yet again getting rid of it wouldn't really leave us anywhere. Its hard!

The world's problems are caused by tribalism. We all like to stick with people most like ourselves - our tribe - who think most like us, and believe in the same values as we do. And because we think we are right, we defend our "tribe" against other tribes who think differently.

This was going on 3,000 years ago on the plains of Africa, and it is still going on today. Today we use religion and politics as our modern tribal affiliations, but the bottom line is the same; we distrust people different to ourselves.

The only way to break through this mindset is to be open-minded enough to accept that other people might be equally right, even if they don't agree with us. Listen to everyone; question everything; never think in stereotypes.

Probaly can get rid of religion but politics will always be around. Someone will always be in charge and make decisions that the others will not agree on.

I agree completely!

In all religions, there is a "rule" or "commandment" - which says "Thou shalt not kill" (and variations on that outside of Christianism, but all similar.)

So why is religion one of the biggest war causers and killers in the world???

Politics I agree also, people do not know how to handle power - they want it, but when the get it, they can't cope with it.

There should never be just one powerful person in charge of a country's welfare!

;-)

If you took those 2 things out you would loose a lot of social structure and I think a lot of people would be depressed as they need something to believe in....

But I sure could do without some of these politicians!

I would be in favour, but if you seriously think about it, it is neither of those two, they might be an adding factor, but i reckon the problem starts with OUR GREED. Everyone is greedy, no one is ever content with what they have and forever always need more. Dont you think?!
