This is a quote from the US State department website, it doesn't really ring true with what us Brits think of US foreign policy...what do you think?

I think the manipulation of nice sounding words irrespective of truth to justify any action those in charge of the government wish to take has always been policy, both domestic and foreign.

U.S. respects human rights and believes in total democracy with no conditions. Britain has a monarchy though nominal. Britain also has no human rights commitment outside Britain.
