yeah cake, deffo cake, buscuits have crumbs , and they great for dunking, wouldnt dunk a jaffa in me cuppa, cause its a cake, yep, now i have convinced myself its a cake

In the United Kingdom, Jaffa Cakes are classed as cakes for the purposes of taxation, but due to their size and high number per packaging, shops generally stock them within the biscuit section. The name is derived from Jaffa oranges.

There was a big court case about it and they got a scientist in to explain why a Jaffa Cake is a cake. Apparently its a cake because when it is old it goes hard, biscuits go soft when they are old.

It is technically a cake because a cake goes hard once exposed to air for too long and a biscuit goes soft! Although it is classified as a biscuit in the shops this is not entirely true!

It's a Cake. When the government brought in a tax on biscuits there was a legal case to decide and mcvities successfully proved that it is a cake, albeit a small one. They actually made a proper cake sized one as part of their case.

The rule is cakes go hard when they are stale and biscuits go soft. I think jaffa cakes go hard, therefore it's a cake.

It's classified as a cake following a food industry decision some time ago, because it isn't baked to be a solid biscuit - it's baked as a soft sponge.
