1)Fill the 5 litre jar to the top.
2)Pour water from the 5 litre jar in the 3litre jar to it's top. Now exactly 2 litres are left in the 5 litre jar.
3)Throw all the water from the 3 litre jar.
4)Fill it withe 2 litres in the 5 litre jar.
5)Again fill the 5 litre jar to it's top.
6)Pour water from it into the 3 litre jar(in which 2 litres of water is already present) to it's top. Exactly 4 litres will be left in the 5 litre jar.

1. Fill first the 3-liter jar with water - full.
2. Empty the contents of the 3-liter into the 5-liter jar. You now have 3 liters of water in the 5-liter jar.
3. Fill again the 3-liter jar with water - full.
4. Pour the contents of the 3-liter jar into the 5-liter jar until the it is full. Since you only need 2 liters of water to make it full, you are left with 1 liter of water in the 3-liter jar.
5. Empty the contents of the 5-liter jar.
6. Pour the 1 liter of water in 3-liter jar into the 5-liter jar. You now have 1 liter of water in the 5-liter jar.
7. Fill again the 3-liter jar with water - full.
8. Transfer the amount of water into the 5-liter jar. Since your 5-liter jar has already 1 liter water, additional 3 liters of water will make it exactly 4 liters!
DONE.

Fill the 5L jug and pour the water into the 3L jug until it's full. You now have 3L in the 3L jug and 2L left in the 5L jug.

Empty the 3L jug and pour the 2L into it so the 5L jug is empty.

Now fill the 5L jug again, and pour water from it into the 3L jug until it's full. You started with 2L in the 3L jug, so filling it up requires 1L. Since that 1L came from the 5L jug, there is now 4L left in the 5L jug.
