I'm looking for a location to shoot a short film of some people planting trees, ideally in a rural or farmland setting. The difficulty I'm having is finding somewhere that will actually let me plant stuff in the actual ground within a 50 mile radius of London. Any ideas?

Your own garden is the easiest place, but otherwise you might want to talk to the local council

Providing you do not intend to dig it up afterwards the best thing to do because you will have to if filming in a public space is to a) Talk to your local Town & Planning department b) The Police so you have the legal right for your film. Do you need Extras?

I remember hearing of someone in London wanting a tree in their garden...perhaps you could visit London and ask around..someone is bound to know who it was.

Have you tried asking the old lady that lives in the big house at the end of the mall. She seems to have a big garden. Maybe she needs a tree, ask her, I think she is called Liz or something.
