I mean a few weeks or months alone and especially when you have no one to talk to.It certainly drove me crazy

You either become a crazy lady with too many cats, or some pervy old guy. People are social animals. Get yourself a roommate before it's too late!!

This will vary on the person. Some people can easily live in solitude & isolation without problems for years while some people can crack in a couple of weeks.
Pretty much it's based on people's habits & personality.
If you need to touch somebody in some way, either get some friends, get a roommate or going online & make friends.

Do you ever find you dont get out of the house enough, and if it is for prefessionel reasons (eg. you work in antartica) then spend time chatt'n on the computer or maybe a phone, but if you live in the city, go do stuff, dont sit around wondering why you are lonely

Of course something like that would drive you mad. And yes you would loose touch with reality. We were designed to interact with others not to be left on our own. You need to socialize, its only healthy that one should get out as often as they can and meet people.

there is a thin line between being to much alone and then sometimes alone time is what you need to get in touch with your real inner feelings and its good theraphy to learn how to enjoy being by yourself,but like they say,too much of anything can be unhealthy for you!I think you need to forse yourself to go out even when you don,t want to,walk on beach,park,Go to coffee shop and meet poeple,ect!Good luck,hollywood
