a friend is someone you talk to about "life" and an acquaintance is someone you just converse with about non important things.

The difference is that a friend is someone you care about and share things with on a personal level. An acquaintance is someone you know slightly and is on a 'hi/bye' type of level with you. Thee is no real connection besides idle chat.

A friend is someone u know well, like their background,friends and family. While an acquaintance is someone u only know slightly.. like his name or something and do not really spend time with him.

Friends are intimate persons, known deeply, with mutual love, and with whom visits are regularly exchanged, if both are not living together. An acquaintance is a person known only casually or even deeply, with whom love may not necssarily be shared nor visits exchanged.

who's troubles you care to listen to.
an acquaintance is someone you know but not deeply, who may sometimes bore you, who's interests may bring out a mild curiosity in you but nothing solid.
you want to hang out with an acquaintance, you want to be with a friend.

Acquiantances are people you have met and not being able to establish personal connection to while friends are people who you consider the significant others.
