Daisy Meadows - who she? or he? or it?

Question

If you have a daughter the right age you've probably got a seventeen-foot long shelf lined with Rainbow Magic books, all supposedly written by "Daisy Meadows".

Every book has the same story - Rachel and Kirsty help the fairies to recover their magic knick-knacks from mean Jack Frost and his incompetent goblins.

Pah. There is no Daisy Meadows, say I. Or if there is, she's a 67-year-old former nightwatchman with a predilection for Fosters. Or a monkey with a typewriter.

Am I being too cynical?

PS not all, but I've read plenty of them. Luckily little_eep is big enough to read them herself now.

I don't think you're being cynical, I work in a bookshop and we sell tonnes of the things! 'She' seems to bring out more and more, names, jewels, months, days, seasons, stars, well maybe not stars. i have met many parents who are in the same view as you! Most of them don't like the books and would rathr their daughters' read something else (probably because they are fed up with them) and a lot of them have said their daughters' get through them in half an hour, but that they'd rather spend the money on a book than toys/tv/video games etc. You are not alone!
