I am one person who likes to have malay food when I am Malaysia, italian in Italy etc..so I would suggest you try out the African cuisines at 'Lekgotla' located in Sandton at Madiba Square. The food are a bit pricey but they give generous portions and the people also have a heart for people so you're just going to enjoy yourself.

Couple of good restaurants have been recommended but if you go to Rosebank be careful, it is a crime hot spot. As for African Cuisine that is new on me and when you see what they eat on the street you will want to give it a big miss.

There is a place called Moya, there is one at Zoo Lake and another in Melrose Arch. They have this wonderful Moroccan vibe, it is especially nice at night. You get to sit on couches under tents, surrounded by fire-torches.
Then there is a place called Catz Pyjamas in Melville (I know it is a little out of your way). I LOVE it there...their pasta is really good. My fav thing to order there are the flapjacks with chocolate or butterscotch sauce, they are so utterly indulgent!!! Not only is the food good but I find the staff their particularly entertaining...a very interesting bunch...
I know it is only two places but it is never good to be overwhelmed with choice...
