Clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere.
Counter clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.
I just checked to make sure!

No dude. The water goes down the drain in whatever direction you send it. Most toilets have an outlet that spins the water in a certain direction. Ie. it's located on one side of the bowl. If it's on the right side of the bowl, and it sends the water counterclockwise in the Northern hemisphere, the action of the draining water would not be reversed by moving the same toilet to the southern hemisphere. This explanation (as so many other's do) requires a brief qualification. There is an infinitely small affect exerted on the water by not only the spin of the earth, but also the moons position (and the sun's position, and the position or your nuts). In the same way these affects can not overcome the initial spinning of the water, if you could remove all other influences (vibrations, make the water absolutely still, do not set in in motion at all), and u had enough time (maybe 1 year), and an accurate enough measuring device (say... God?), then yes, the water would spin opposite from North to South hemisphere. But.. just stay in school.

No dude. The water is going down the drain in regardless of direction you deliver it. maximum lavatories have an outlet that spins the water in a undeniable direction. Ie. it relatively is positioned on one fringe of the bowl. If it relatively is on the spectacular fringe of the bowl, and it sends the water counterclockwise interior the Northern hemisphere, the action of the draining water does no longer be reversed via shifting the comparable rest room to the southern hemisphere. This clarification (as maximum of different's do) demands a quick qualification. there is an infinitely small impact exerted on the water via no longer basically the spin of the earth, yet additionally the moons place (and the sunlight's place, and the situation or your nuts). interior the comparable way those impacts can no longer conquer the preliminary spinning of the water, in case you need to get rid of all different impacts (vibrations, make the water genuinely nevertheless, do no longer set in in action in any respect), and u had sufficient time (perhaps a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days), and an precise sufficient measuring device (say... God?), then definite, the water might spin opposite from North to South hemisphere. yet.. basically stay in college.

Urban Myth, I am afraid! The Coreolis (wrong spelling, I guess) force relates to the drag of the earth against the atmosphere, nothing to do with water going down a drain (so, yes, cyclones rotate in different directions in the northern and southern hemispheres). Water will go down a drain in whatever direction it is started in. The number of US citizens who rush to the toilet when they arrive in Australia to flush it just to see which direction the water spirals is alarming. Our water is precious! The next thing will be that driving on the left side of the road is an effect of Coreolis...eek!

Aparently some people even flush aeroplane toilets as they fly over the equator to see whether the direction changes!

Yes it is true. but what happens on the equator? Studies have shown that it is possible to go the opposite way its all down to size and shape of the drain

yes !, but only for four or five more years as the magnetic poles of earth are in the process of switching fom being noth to south to being south to north, check it out , and guess what the earth does this every 70 or 80 thousand years and we'll get to experience it, how cool is that !

Yep it's called the Coriolis Effect.

Yes and if the gravity pull of the earth changes the directions will switch.
