Go to your local shop or find an Autozone or someone that tests for free. They will link the computer and tell you what the problem is and possibly how to fix it. The blinking is a code that should be listed in the repair manual. It of course tells you what the problem is, and the manual will give you suggestions on what to check. I have no way of knowing what the code means since you didn't say what it was.

Drive it for a day or two,it should go off automatically, until the computer in the car recognizes that you installed a new battery. Check your connections again to make sure. I had the same problem ,on the newer cars the dash blinks for a while until you drive it and it should go away.

Check your oil and make sure it's full. If it is full, check to see if there is a Oil change Reset button. You press it when you change your oil and then it waits 3 months or 3,000 miles to come on again. If there is one it would be easy to see. The battery light could indicate that your alternator is not charging it enough. Go to Autozone and ask for a free alternator and battery test, they test for free.

Sounds strange . Apparently you have checked the oil, and you say the battery is new. Me thinks you have some sending unit problems or a computer that is doing some strange things.
