WHOA!!! Don't follow some of the suggestions here. You have granite countertops and you don't want to use some of the products mentioned! A solvent or acid or petroleum product may compromise the sealer and cause stains.
There is a very simple solution that is used by most commercial kitchens. Boric acid is a white powder that is non-toxic to humans and pets, but devastating to ants and roaches. You can sprinkle it along the edges of your countertops and inside any affected cabinets. You don't have to worry about contact with eating surfaces like dishes. It will be a little unsightly, but just remove it after the job is complete.
Ask any restaurant professional and they'll validate my claim.

What I have had the very best of luck with is a product called Terro Ant Killer 11. It can be used in homes, schools , restaurants, offices, etc........It comes in a 4 or 6 oz. bottle and is clear with no odor. It also has 6 little white squares you detach and apply this sticky liquid to. The worker ants carry this back to their colony as food and it will eliminate your problem. The closer to the entrance of their home you can place it, the faster it will work. Don't allow them to travel for other food if they have a source close to home. It will take a couple or three days before you see it work but it does work and they will not return. I've used it several times and have had very good luck over the years.
You can find this in a grocery or hardware store or any Wal-Mart type store.

I like ant chalk. Be careful, I heard some has pyrethrum, Its a low toxicity natural insecticide. If you can't find good ant chalk , look for powder forms of diatamateous earth. You may use boric acid also, Its slightly toxic, but I doubt ingestion of small quantities will hurt since it was once used as medicine as well. I heard lemon and garlic solutions may work but I kind of dislike smearing my kitchen with more food.

Organically, you can use a small bunch of fresh lavender or a spot of lavender oil as close as possible to their entry point at the beginning of the trail will deter them for days at a time. Smells nice too!
Or another way is to buy some Boracic Acid powder at the local pharmacy. Then 29gms. of honey is heated mix with one large teaspoon of boracic powder and leave where the ants are.
Good luck

Any kind of spray kitchen cleaner with bleach will kill the ants. To get rid of them completely you can use TERRO ant killer. You hide it under the cabinet where kids cant get it and at first it will seem like more ants are comeing in. But they take this stuff back to thier nest and all of them will die. Can get at Walgreens, Kmart, Home depot, and other places too.

i have tried a good number of diverse approaches, my residing house had an ant issue for years. the finest way i found replaced into to purchase a field of Borax cleanser from the food market (you'll locate it with the detergents, now and again that is said as boraxo, or diverse names like that) a million.) blend a million tsp of borax, 2tsp of sugar, and about 5 cups of water. 2.)Dip cotton balls contained in the combination and go away them the position you in a good number of cases see the ants. 3.) do not KILL THE ANTS! The ants will scent (or inspite of they do) the borax-poisoned sugar on the cotton balls and take the sugar cubes decrease back to their nest to eat it. in case you kill them they received't get a danger to convey it decrease back for the others to eat. replace the cottonballs with new ones daily. after about 3-4 days you'll observe you've were given ants walking into walls and twitching round on your floor. it really is once you recognize its operating. in case you install too a lot borax they'll be able to smell it, so do not flow loopy with it.
