Do you tip them or something? I know it's early, but I was just curious. :)

Well, its usually customary to offer snacks like christmas cookies, hot chocolate or coffee to help them through the evening. I wouldn't give money. Just thank them and offer them something to tide them over.

EGGUM!
No, Actually, where I am from, in the deep south, it is quite customary to invite them in(usually they are of a group on which you are quite familiar), for some cocoa and marshmallows, or if they are of an adult genre, for some toasted almonds and rum eggnog.
When I was growing up, it was quite commonplace for several different groups to go-a-carolling in the same neighborhood until all parties culminated in the general area of the town square where all would enjoy the comfort of not only a huge bonfire, but the rejoicing of kindredness, and watching the frollicking of juveniles as they chased their young sweethearts with miscletoe, or passed toasted marshmallows to one another until their little faces were dark charred masses of ooiy gooiy, and the adults huddled out of site sipping glasses of 'earthereal' embibements.
NO, it's not a scene from, that guy, whatshisname, it was all real and i was there, 25 years ago.!!!!!

I am a Hindu from India, and in my home state of Kerala there are plenty of Christians too : As both faiths coexist in harmony, we all celebrate both Hindu and Christian festivals.
It is a common sight seeing Christian children adorning their homes' front yard with a 'poo-kolam' (floral art) for the Hindu Onam. Plus sharing their Onam 'saadhyam' (feast) with Hindu friends....
And it is equally common to notice Christian children singing carols n front of the Hindu neighbours' homes !
...And no, these youngsters are not servants to 'tip' - but 'athithi's [guests] at our residence, who deserve what hospitality we can offer. This 'offering' ranges from simple snacks and hot tea [in any average household], to a sizeable monetary donation plus packs of sweetmeats from the well-to-do folk.
...As most localities seldom have more than 4-5 groups of carolers, and since each group visits a home only once every year, I have noticed that no one feels inconvenienced or burdened by such contributions to their localities' youngsters.

You can make it simple and give candy canes or a pretty Christmas cookie wrapped and send them on their way.

Hot Cider or Hot Chocolate and a goodie. It depends if you invite them in or just pass the treat to them outside.

After my tree is decorated, I hang a couple boxes of candy canes on it just to pass out if someone happens to come along. I also keep two boxes of nice chocolates under the tree in case someone comes with an unexpected gift.

In my country, carol singing is not only singing now. they pray for you awhile and sing songs. It make your house a small chuch for a moment at where ppl gethering at night in the same reason. usually give warm food to the singing group to prevent cold and straving, donate anyamount of money you think you should appreciate to the group who spare their sleep in a cold dark night and show you their loving cares by prayers and songs.

that's an honest way we made money growing up. It's like raking leaves or shoveling snow. Yes tip them and if you can afford it invite them back, you could make a friend
