The ranking system is a joke. It is about timing, and when you lose your games, rather than who you are playing. I agree with your Auburn comment. Louisville happen to beat W Virginia when they were ranked no. 3, and I'm sure that is a huge factor, with their unblemished record. Many people may even make a case for Boise State, but they haven't played anyone.

If the title game has an undefeated team and a one loss team, and the one loss team beats them, should they automatically be considered the national champs?? The undefeated team just happened to lose its one game against the so called no. 2 team, at the end of the year. It all gets back to when you lose those games.

It is a flawed system at best. Until they figure a better way to rank, we the fans can only voice our opinions and hope the NCAA hears us. Maybe they should integrate a vote of the fans into their BCS ranking system. Who the heck knows....

Auburn didn't get in that year because of a schedule that included a 1-AA team (Western Carolina) and the fact that they played Tennessee TWICE and won both games. It simply didn't help their strength of schedule. Louisville beat a West Virginia team I felt was overrated until i saw them torch Louisville for 34 points in that LOSS! So, I'd say that if Louisville can overcome a schedule like that AND beat a higher ranked team or two along the way, they deserve to be #3. Scheduling "weak" teams is a cross EVRYBODY bears at one time or another. Don't believe me? Look at Notre Dame. They play ALL 3 service academies this year, plus a couple other weaklings, yet because of USC and one or two other games, they'll be ranked pretty high as long as they keep rolling along, so don't give me the "weak schedule/weak conference" bullcrap! If you were talking about someone like Tulane's undefeated 1998 team, I might agree because C-USA isn't quite as strong as the Big East in overall talent and scheduling strength.

Two reasons why they are ranked so high...One: computers. The computers have no FEEL for the game. Next time you see the rankings on the top 25, the numbers next to the names (Ohio State .9865, Michigan .9706...etc) are all numbers pushed out by the computers. You lose the number gets smaller, your team falls in rank.

Reason number two: No respect for the Pac 10. I agree the Bears should be up there, (Florida is back on the way up). But the way USC beat-up on the Pac-10, nearly undefeated 3 years straight, everybody else gets forgotten. The folks in charge love the east coast.

First off they are undefeated. Secong since when is WVU a nobody? Oh and Rutgers on Thursday, which will further show Rutgers is someone now although I think Louisville wins. Stop hating on the Big East. They are trying and starting to become a football confrence again. Why is USC ranked as high as they tend to be? Is the Pac-10 really that great? We all know it isn't, they just want a west coast team to be up high to lower the "east coast bias" complaints. Well not the East Coast's fault that the West Coast sucks.

cuz they r 1- undefeated 2- crushed every team they have played and 3- all hell will break loose again if an undefeated team is left out via a one losser...

Not cal at #3...they lost to Tenn bad, and tenn is now 17.....i would say ND over Cal, cuz they lost to #2 mich and mich can potentially be #1. I would however take Florida if they win the SEC champ game.

cuz they haven't lost yet and they've looked impressive in all of their victories. if they end up going undefeated they should be in the national championship game, even tho i don't want to see them play in it. i'd rather see florida.

I agree with you Brotha, but they have not lost a game yet, but if they played CAL they would get beat down, CAL should be #3
