I'm tired of the sidewalks and streets being buried under 12 inches of packed snow all winter and now that I'm creeping up in years I'm less inclined to do heavy shovelling. How might we improve our ability to remove snow using some of today's technologies?

teen labour may work but the "Nintendo generation" has a tough time with aerobic exercise, salt eats concrete, the "enviro friendly " variants only work to -15 C. there have been experiments with heat loops in/under the walkways, but if you use anything other than a "waste" or solar or geothermal heat source you will be adding to the whole climate change thing. some people are trying to figure out ultrasonic methods of disrupting the snows integrity, but that seems to be a long way off. that's all i know about it.

There are many chemicles that can help, but most of them are harmful to the environment.

There is also a product called the Wovel that makes the physical strain a whole lot easier on the body. It is designed to greatly reduce back stress and stresses on your muscles and body.

Snowblowers are also an effective alternative, but they are rather expensive.

Or, you can always find a teen eager to make money to do it for you for a rather inexpensive price.

Hope this helps!

Good old fashion SALT will solve the problem. Pour it over the snow and watch it dissolve before your eyes. The kind you put in food or the BIG bags of salt.

I hope I helped some.
