Considering all the reports today of voter fraud in Virginia -- tens of thousands reportedly had to fill out conditional ballots yet to be counted -- then can we take this narrow victory as a farce that is really a pretty solid Dem victory in the state?

No I distinctly heard people actually in Virginia say they were being forced to those "Provisional Ballets" so they are definitely "out there" and they typically go Democrat, because that's why they were likely profiled and disqualified in the first place.

I have a strong hunch this race isn't as close as it appears, just that the Republicans fell short in stealing this one.

But as always...Your Thoughts?

Yes, i heard all day today how people were given the conditional ballets because many of the machines were malfunctioning and in other precincts many dems were turned away. I have a feeling that republicans won't want to request a recount after all, cuz they'll realize all the cheating they created and they don't want to be embarrassed when it turns out they suppressed millions of votes, all of them democrats!

While I do hope that Dems do well this cycle, I think you are confusing two different occurences. The alleged fraud in Virginia had to do with misleading phone calls made in heavily minority communities indicating that they would be arrested if they showed up to the polls. It was voter suppression rather than provisional ballots. All that's left to foil Webb's win are the military absentee ballots, which won't be for Allen in enough numbers to overcome the deficit he's facing. Webb will win narrowly in any case.

"Suck an egg!"

My how our Republican friends are snippy tonight. :-)

But to your question ... I really, really hope the Dems don't just let it go because they won. Voter frauds should be nailed to the wall ... even if they are unsuccessful.

Don't even know if those votes will get counted. The Reps played as dirty as they could, even here in Maryland where people were told that Michael Steele was a Dem, even though he wasn't.
