Apparently that is what makes the world go round...if everybody felt the same it would definitely be a dull world....I have been gay for over 30 years and feel I am okay to most people...but like you say there are some that enjoy flaunting their sexuality and those are the ones that give us a bad name.....I am a caring person who has raised 2 girls (now married, with their own families) and 2 boys (already grown up and f--king every girl they can find) which I don't appreciate, but it's their lives now, and have to pay child support....Thank God I don't have to...So my friend don't think we are all that way....

Think of it this way,
If you're Irish would you celebrate St. Patrick's day and attend parades?Would you wear shirts that say "proud to be Irish"?
How about various other celebrations based on everything from community pride to religious celebrations that have parades? Are they equally obnoxious?
It's about achievement.Over fifty years ago, gays were sent to concentration camps in Germany, right along with Jews, gypsies, and other undesirables.Around 40 years ago police raided gay bars and beat gay men with billy clubs just for being there and gay men could be arrested for as little a thing as holding hands in the bar.
But it was through hard fought demonstrations in the form of parades that members of the GLBT community were able to show their numbers and gain both support and recognition.Today those parades are a reminder to the community at large that we are still here and a reminder to ourselves of how far we have come.

Gay Parades is also not my cup of tea and to be honest some of the exhibitionism at some parades I also find slightly distastefull.
The parades and what I call exhibitionism is however responsible for the freedoms that many of us gays enjoy today. If these people were not willing to FIGHT for our rights, then most of us still would have been considered 'criminals'.
A straight person might not need to wear a shirt that says PRIDE TO BE STRAIGHT, be he /she is allowed to be whatever he/she is. Most os us gays have however been discriminated at, beaten up etc. We need the parades to remind all that we are another minority group that need protection.

T answe that questions is simple. People are different and do different/act different ways.
You don't have to parade around town saying your str8 because it is accepted as the norm in society plus when people look at you they automatically think of you as str8 unless you give them a reason to think otherwise. Str8 people don't have worry
Not all gay people who attend Gay Pride are annoying in the sense that they have to advertise their sexual status. They've already done that by attending or having supporters like family members and friends show up there with them. I'm gonna assume you mean the ones that dress outrageously and send chills down your spine. Well they are part of the gay group and like I said earlier people do and act differently then others. No different than when str8 people do something you don't get. It's all a show with free admission. Enjoy.

Look at it this way - some straight people are normal and some straight people are annoying.
People wear T-shirts, bumper stickers, hang flags and attend rallies showing their pride in everything from Christianity, Harley Davidson motorcycles, to being pro-choice to being skin heads. It isn't just about who's proud to be gay and who isn't.
It's people being proud about who they are in general. You've come a long way, but it sounds like you're still a little sensitive.

When was the last time you got beat up for being straight? or screamed at? or fired? or denied housing? or weren't allowed to marry the love of your life? People are proud to be gay because they have been taught by society that being gay is a shameful thing, wrong, disgusting. Many gay people have had to work through all the negative attitudes in order to be proud to be who they are. So they want to shout it out, how does that hurt you? In your opinion its ok to be gay as long as we know our place and keep our mouths shut. Well forget that dude! We're proud and we're loud and you might as well get used to it.

Straight or "Gay" there are activist or annoying people in all cultures. Just some cultures have more activist than others.
Whether straight or gay, the following wisdom gives some insight into such actions.
"Those that blow their horn the loudest are generally in the deepest fog"
"The empty barrels make the loudest noise"
"Babbling brooks run shallow"
"Broad tongues come from narrow minds"
And of course "Hams always like to show their a%@ "

Most of those people that attend the parades are either newly out and want to celebrate a liberating release of their true self, or wish to show the "rest of us" that they are not ashamed of who they are or both. I highly doubt you are ashamed of being a heterosexual, but nobody has been "picking on you" for centuries. Some people still believe that "Gayness" is a disease, or a sin and are not loath to disown members of their family over it. Another reason is because thay want to show the "rest of us" that they aren't the only ones. I know a lot of straight people that attend those parades as well, merely for the fact of Gay rights or to support friends and family.
