I hope so. . .The unfortunate truth and sad realization is; it proves that our democracy is mostly dependent on money to win elections.
Hopefully, this can be addressed and fixed. The Dem's have spent more than ever, and were very close in spending to what the Reps have. (To win and have payed less is encouraging, and shows a good sign, however, it bothers me to think about where the money came from).
If the Democrats have resorted to taking funds the same way as the Reps, then we have a change in name only. I hope not, as I am a Democrat, and I personally despise the fact that you need money to win.
Thank you all for voting. . .Great Job

we'll see. the figures so far make positive reading. though if and when george bush and the republicans are ousted by the democrats in the actual election itself, then i for one would be looking forward to the day that it happens. bush and his collegues, condelezza rice, dick cheney etc are finished and the americans have come to their senses and realise that bush has dragged his own country down as well as the american citizens. his adminstration screwed up in iraq, millions of americans are without proper health insurance, likewise the mess they made with hurricane katrina, stopping a bill that prevents stem cell research being carried out in an attempt to combat parkinson's disease to name, not to mention its attempt at outlawing gay marriages.
they messed up america very badly and alas, that country's reputation will be further tarnished come next year of whenever- if the bush administration are not long gone. but i know that the american people who are sick of the way they've been treated by bush will do the right thing and give him and his mates what he deserves, and that's a right pummelling in the polls.

The billions of US dollars spent on the election provides the country with the leaders whom the people have chosen and it is worth it but costly.

In this case, I say absolutely !!!!
A very loud and clear message was sent to Jr. , his co-horts and his cronies. If any of them have an ounce of grey matter between them, they'll take the results of these elections very seriously.

If it had been tainted, it would have been a disaster. given our recent elections, there was every reason they would go bad as well. fortunately, the people's voice was heard and there was a clear expression of their opinion. as expensive as it has been, and money tends to spoil everything it touches, we managed to get what these are supposed to be about, a clear expression of the thoughts of the people.
