Use MSMA on grassy weeds. Temp must be above 85 degrees at night to be effective. It is too cold in most of the USA now to apply.
Use2-4-D for broad leaf weed. OK to spray now.
Fertilize 4 times starting May - Sept.
Aerate every May and Sept.
Water 24 hrs after you spray for weeds and fertilize.
You can hire Scott's Lawn Service and they will do a great job for usually less than you can do it yourself.
Stay away from True green-Chem lawn. These guys cut too many corners.

Depends on the type of weeds, you can use a weed wand, it's got a weed poison in it and you touch each one and they will die in a short time. To green the grass up fairly quickly sprinkle UREA on it or use a good slow release fertiliser, Epsom salts will also green up the grass. You must use water though and like the others said, grey water is surely good for it.

The weeds you have to do manually, but as for the water use 'grey' water (used water like bath water or dishwashing water then redirect the hose from your washing machine to a bucket or something then the water restrictiobs won't be a problem

In Colorado, we don't have restrictions on hand-watering. Perhaps similar in your area? I'd weed-eat and spend 15-20 min. a day with the hose.

I haven't made my mind up with grey water because i did use it out of the laundry with water i only washed my hands with using
a hand soap & my plants got sick, because i think most soap has salt(sodium) in it
plus wont it kill all the bugs in the soil that is needed ???
